The SURN Science Forum blog facilitates middle school and high school teachers who attended a workshop on using high yield literacy strategies in science class to share and showcase what they are doing in their classrooms, offers a forum for questions, and lets viewers read posts of how teachers are working to effectively use literacy strategies they learned at the workshop.

Gneiss Ipod Help
We can't answer back at work so I will post the answer here. Call Apple Support. They are great. They will fix your problems and are very quick.
Thanks. i went to the apple store but they didn't know what to do and told me to contact filemaker. They know of the problem and are trying to find a solution. In the meantime I just did it the old fashion way.
What are some of the strategies you use to motivate students to do their best? how do you did with apathy? Do you readily assign homework? Noyou teach in an urban district? How do you remain relevant?
Filemaker is the program that the observations are done on on the ipad. I use a rewards system where the students receive "Mericle" dollars for various things (coming to class on time, score over a 100, answering a question, good lab behavior, etc.) These dollars than can be turned in for candy, extra credit, homework passes, lab passes, grade replacement. I remain relevant by bringing in current events and assigning current event projects. Hope this helps.
Yes, that does help. So it lets you assess and record on the go. This is not a web based program I take it? Is it like Excell? Are you able to assess the web with you iPod, ipad at school?
Not at school. I have to complete the form, save it, and then when I have internet access send it. It is not like excel at all. It is a form with drop down boxes that the people at SURN developed. The forms are needed for their grant and this is the easiest way to get it to them. It would work better if we were allowed to get on the internet at school with them but so far that's a no go until downtown approves that.
